Active Aligners and 3Shape: How Our Digital Design Partnership Supports Dentists

Active Aligners is a proudly South African clear aligner brand, manufactured by Smile Club Lab in Johannesburg. Our system gives dental practitioners access to locally manufactured aligners, supported by international digital design expertise and a hands-on South African clinical and technical team.

Since 2018, Smile Club Lab has partnered with 3Shape Design Services, formerly FullContour, for clear aligner case design. 3Shape brings extensive experience in digital dental design and clear aligner workflows, while Active Aligners applies its own movement, staging and design protocols developed with input from experienced local and international orthodontic clinicians.

3Shape’s clear aligner design team is clinically led by Dr Gabriela Nelson, DDS, whose background in clear aligner workflows and treatment planning support helps guide a structured, protocol-driven design process.

Every proposed setup is reviewed and approved by the treating dentist before manufacturing begins. This keeps the dentist in control of the clinical decision-making, while giving them the benefit of experienced design support, local guidance and reliable South African manufacturing.
